On The Go
Have you ever tried to work while you were traveling? My job allows me to be remote independent sometimes, so I can do my job from just about anywhere for extended periods. I still need and want to be physically present to meet referral partners, attend office meetings, and attend client closings, but overall I can work remotely when it is needed and still get things done.
Recently, as we traveled to pick up my daughter from summer camp last week, I had to juggle between pre-approving someone late the evening of July 3rd, who was suddenly looking at a home at 8:00 a.m. July 4th (the agent and I both wondered why they didn’t get this done sooner but this is how people operate sometimes!).
Fortunately, my family understands that sometimes working at odd hours is required, but it can be a strain and challenge at times to implement. And it can put a damper on my attitude and demeanor as well.
Does your job afford you the opportunity to work remotely at times? How do you handle your job duties while trying to also spend time with your family (or getting to the place to be able to spend time with your family)?
A Real Christian Businessman knows that juggling between working remotely while traveling and also having the right attitude at the same time can be a challenge. It’s easy to get short with others (or family members!) when you are driving down the highway trying to answer a question from a client or working from a rest area parking lot while your family stares at you.
“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” 2 Tim 1:7 (NIV)
When we are faced with working conditions that are less than ideal, and it puts our attitude to the test, let us remember to use the power, love and self-discipline God gave us to get us through.
I needed it last week – and I know I will need it again soon!
