You Don’t Have To Be Nice

With the holidays upon us it seems everyone is a little more on edge in my town.  People at work are chippy with each other (and even me!).  Folks at the grocery store are banging their buggies into me and others and not saying excuse me.  People at the mall are elbowing to get in front of me in the check out line at stores when there are only 3 of us wanting to check out!   And Folks at the In N Out burger are getting impatient with each other having to wait hours upon hours just to get a double double animal style (yes In N Out just opened in metro Nashville last week! I won’t be going for at least 6 months until the fervor dies down – it’s crazy!).

Rushing.

Pushing.

Rude.

A Real Christian Businessman knows that this time of year can bring stress for folks more so than other times.  Our actions are to be different though!  We can let that person in line at check out who feels like their transaction is more important than ours.  We can put in the chat “Merry Christmas” to our co-workers on that video conference call that seem to be lost and staring at their phone.

“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.” Titus 3:4 (NIV)

Let’s take a moment to show love and mercy during this time period instead of rushing and rude.  We don’t have to break out and start telling everyone the story of Christ’s birth to do this, as it can be just a simple act of kindness to others.  Christ’s love will shine through!

p.s. Merry Christmas to all of y’all!  I appreciate each and every one of you more than you realize.  I am so thankful for you taking the time to read my emails/posts every week and especially for sending encouraging words to me from time to time. I don’t take you for granted!
