Minding My Business

One of my colleagues seems to always be complaining about something related to work.

Complain complain complain.

Talk talk talk.

Gets louder and louder and louder.

Whether it’s the way the client isn’t getting them what they need, or how the software system we use for loans is slow, or that their processor didn’t do a task correctly, its always something.

And they make sure and let everyone know about it.

I like to talk (just ask my wife!), but over the years I have learned that talking all the time about something is not going to make it better.  How I approach the situation CAN make it better. And what I DO about the situation can also make it better.

But talking and complaining about it to others really doesn’t do anything to help the situation at all!

A Real Christian businessman knows that the best approach to our work is that of minding and taking care of our business and not being very vocal about any of our problems.  Not complaining.  Not speaking out about everything, but being intentional about listening to those around us and just doing our job so other will see how we react and how we work.

“Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before.  Then people who are not believers will respect the way you live…” 1 Thes 4:11-12a (NLT)

Let’s try this week to be characterized at work by our diligence, self-sufficiency, and honest hard work (without complaining!).

We never know, it may uplift someone around us without us even being aware.
