Tough One

I won a loan from a competitor recently that turned out to be very difficult.   The competitor had  changing the parameters needed from the buyer and also continually raised the cash he needed to close to where it finally got to a very for uncomfortable level for him.

He lost all trust in my competitor to be able to get the loan done.

Because I had picked this loan up mid-stream and their closing date was less than 13 days away I didn’t have much time to get it done.

Everyone was breathing down my neck daily (sometimes hourly).

Time was limited on how fast we needed to close (under 2 weeks).

The pressure was on!

Unfortunately I didn’t handle the pressure as well as I could have.  I snapped back at one of the real estate agents who kept pressing me on more than one occasion, I got short with my client.  I pressed on my processing team hard.

I let the pressure get to me.

The good news is we got it done! We only closed a couple of days after the original closing date but we still got it completed in record time. My buyer was happy, but I’m not sure if the other folks in the transaction were.

And I could’ve done better.

A Real Christian Businessman knows that when the going gets tough and the situation get stressful at work we have to maintain our composure. Losing our cool is not cool. Letting the circumstances dictate your reaction is not a good thing. Several times I was at my wits end!  But I was also able to keep it together on more than one occasion as well.

“Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.” Prov 16:32 (ESV)

So the next time you have a situation that has circumstances that are many times beyond your control and it pushes you to your limit, remember to keep your cool and don’t lose it as many times as I did.
