What’s Your Pace?
Run Run Run. In the mortgage world, once a buyer goes under contract, we have 30 days or less to get everything finalized and get their loan completed. Gotta get it done! This makes for things to always be moving quickly when you have a deal to get closed. At the same time I’m trying to close a loan, there are other things that need to be done, like meeting with clients and real estate agents, lots of follow up, and participating in weekly training/meetings.
Some folks I work with run and don’t stop! One of my colleagues that I know works all hours of the night, up early the next morning, and always goes goes goes.
I tend to work hard during the day, trying to do focus work instead of popping in and out of something. If I have an appointment or a meeting that day, I’m not able to always provide the right focus on the “paperwork and follow up” as much as I would like. This causes me to think I haven’t been productive because there are so many lose ends that haven’t been done. “If only I would work more hours I could get more done” I think to myself sometimes.
A Real Christian Businessman knows that running at a super fast pace or working all the time will eventually wear us down. Trying to maintain a high-paced level eventually catches up to us and forces our body to break down and we ultimately lose business.
“It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.” Ps 127:2 (NLT)
What pace do you run at?
Whatever it may be, remember to stop and take a break sometimes. Turn it off at night so your mind can reset, allowing you to tackle things fresh the next day.
Let’s protect ourselves now, so we can be around later to enjoy life.
We don’t have that many chances left to make the adjustment.
