Hard Customers
I have a loan I am dealing with right now that I “won” away from a competitor at the last minute. This is a past client of mine who decided to utilize a competitor for her next purchase instead of me. I continued to keep in contact with her during the process even though I wasn’t working on her loan and then 3 days before closing she decided to switch and utilize me instead.
What I had forgotten about this client was how hard she was to deal with when we closed on her first loan! She is a professor/scientist, and is of very high intellect, but is slow to respond and will mis-interpret the details of the loan (making for difficult and long conversations to discuss and explain it all).
A few times during conversations with the client I almost told her off – I was very close to saying “just forget all this I’m done.” Now I’m pretty good at explaining things to people at all levels of intelligence, but it got extremely frustrating and almost heated with her at times due to the comprehension gap we were having.
Do you ever have customers that are difficult to deal with?
How do you handle your interactions with them?
A Real Christian Businessman knows that even when conversations are difficult, and folks may not be understanding what you are trying to say, we have to do our best to keep our composure and not fly off the handle at them.
“If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.” (Rom 12:18)
Even though I “almost” lost my cool with her, we are now almost done with everything and should be able to close on her loan this week.
We all face challenges with customers that we work with. Let’s remember to try our best to keep our cool no matter how hard it is to deal with them.
As I know all too well… it’s not easy.
