Who Ya Know?
Different industries have different kinds of people. When I was in the Music Industry for example, there were many flamboyant, loud, drinkin’ and smokin folks that did some outrageous things related to their business decisions. Fast forward to today, in the mortgage industry that I currently work in, and I find folks even still that have very questionable beliefs and actions.
In other words, there are folks in our workplaces that say and do things that are completely opposite of how we usually speak or act.
The good news is I have found at every job I have ever had at least one person who has the same faith as me. It hasn’t always been easy to find them, but we always seem to connect. This has served as a great support for me as sometimes people don’t act too “Christian-like” in their business dealings. Having someone from the same faith background to confide in and seek support of can be very beneficial sometimes.
Do you have someone at work who is also a believer? Someone you can confide in when the going gets tough in the workplace so that you don’t go over the guardrails?
A Real Christian Businessman knows that we have to find someone in our workplace (at least one!) that has the same beliefs as us. We may not talk to them all the time or discuss deep theological ideas, but knowing deep down you both are guided by the same faith principals will only serve to help us as we progress through your vocation.
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” Ecc 4:9-10 (NIV)
I have been fortunate to know some great people where I have worked who have given me great Godly comfort and advice when times have gotten tough. Make sure you find the right co-worker you can lean on at times so that you don’t go “off your rocker.” God has put someone in your workplace for this very purpose and you may not have even recognized them yet!
