Transitions
Our daughter just finished her last week of 11th grade. I’ve heard it said that time flies by quickly but I am seeing it all first hand and my head is spinning! First it was with our son graduating high school, now it is with our daughter entering her final year! I’m not quite sure what to do with the thought of her graduating soon as well but give me a minute to figure it out. (LOL)
At work we are having some transitions too. My wife (who happens to work at the same company in the same region as I do) had her position eliminated by her bosses (cost cutting?). Fortunately she was thought of so highly at the corporate level and made such an impact on our corporate leaders that they created a new position for her so she could stay with the company. She started her new corporate job last week.
We have several new people that are working in our local office now.
My physical office location is moving soon.
A close childhood friend of my wife died suddenly last week.
My son started a new job a couple of weeks ago.
All of these transitions are hard to balance sometimes! I struggle with how to handle each one, let alone all of them together.
Yet a Real Christian Businessman knows that transitions like these at work and at home are all part of life. The key to them all is how we handle them, and where we look for guidance on each one.
“A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.” Prov 16:9 (NKJV)
Proverbs 16:9 says that while we may plan our ways, it is the Lord who ultimately establishes our steps. Transitions are a reminder that our lives are not our own; they are the Lord’s, and he will establish our paths.
My family and I will make it through all of these transitions. And I’m sure there will be many more to come. I wrote this today to remind myself probably more than anyone that the Lord will establish my path.
I just gotta trust!
