I work mostly from home, periodically going into the office while also having numerous in person meetings at various lunch or breakfast restaurants throughout the week.  I have a “spot” that I work at from home.  It’s not a separate room that is an office, but a bedroom in which I put a desk in the corner, near the dresser, hutch and bed.

At my office building, I don’t have a specific desk that I work at.  I grab a desk or cubicle that is open and leave it for the next person that needs it when they come in, generic and clean just like I found it.

I realized this week that my office “spots” are not personalized that much, especially when it comes to reminders about my faith!

So…

I made some conscious changes yesterday.

I put a bible right next to my desk at my work-from-home spot – that was easy! Now it is very visible to me and I can read it whenever I get a break during the day.  I also made my password that I log into my computer a short biblical phrase (“GodisGood” for example). So wherever I am working I will always have a small reminder of my faith each time I log in.

What does your set up at work look like?  Do you have any reminders at your desk or sticky notes nearby to help reminder you of your faith?

A Real Christian Businessman is afforded the same freedoms that others have when it comes to displaying things we like in our workspaces or our home offices.  Even if there are restrictions at work regarding displaying anything at all, we can get creative to be able to find ways to remind us of our faith wherever it is that we work.

Take an inventory now of what you have and don’t have posted in your office or wherever it is that you work that can serve as a subtle reminder of our faith.

What small change can you make today to help you have a faith reminder while working?

“These words I am commanding you today are to be upon your hearts… Tie them as reminders on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates.” Deut 6:6,8-9 (ESV)
