Represent!
I spent the last week with my family on vacation. It was the last Fall Break with my 12th grade son! (Sad oh my!) We went with my wife’s parents via car to Chicago for a couple of days and then on to the Wisconsin Dells. Devon and I have been to Chicago before so it was fun taking the family around the city and then it was a new experience for us all in the Wisconsin Dells! The bonus was the leaves were at their peak and it couldn’t have been a better time to see all of the colors changing.
Vacations are great because it gives me time to think and adjust my perspective on what I need to do in my personal and business life.
One of the things I realized while reflecting this week is how I enjoy serving others. Even though the mortgage business is difficult right now I realized I have so many opportunities to interact with and help folks all while glorifying God in the process.
How about you, are you enjoying what you do at work right now?
Do you see the impact you are making on others by just doing your job as if working for God and not for man?
This is the whole premise of being a Real Christian Businessman – whatever we do, wherever we go, we are working for God and not for man.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” Coll 3:23 (ESV)
It’s easy to forget what we are doing and to get caught up in “making that sale” or “getting the job done.”
Take a moment like I did and look at whatever it is you are doing for your vocation. Whether we work directly with customers or we work with others at our office, remember that all we do is glorifying to God and that it all represents Him.
So let’s represent well this week!
