Business Is Hard

Things are just flat out difficult in my business right now.  Interest rates are higher than they have been in the last 2 years and have increased faster than we have seen in some time.  People are timid when it comes to leaving their recently refinanced 2.5% mortgage for a different house at a 6.75% mortgage.  1st time home buyers are priced out of the market because current higher interest rates have caused them to lose much of the buying power they once had and home prices are many times out of their reach as the sale prices haven’t quite adjusted down to the current marketplace.

Makes it kinda hard to earn an income as a Loan Officer.

Some friends have asked me if I need to rethink the industry I’m in.  “Why don’t you move to something that is a little more stable instead of something that is 100% commision based?”

It can and IS a challenge right now to earn my income.

I admit it.

It is something I have always been concerned about but am more concerned about it right more than usual.

Yet A Real Christian businessman knows that sometimes the going gets tough.  It’s not always easy to earn an income for your family or provide revenue to live on in our current occupation.  God has taught us though that he will always provide and we have to trust that he will… particularly if we are making efforts on our end based on the gifts he has given us (i.e. can’t sit around and expect manna to fall from the sky now can we?!?).

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” Matt 6:26 (NIV)

I remain committed to helping families improve their quality of living and educating them through their home mortgage needs.

I know that if I focus on doing well, work smarter not harder, keep getting better…. and PRAY, God will provide.

He always has.

It’s just a little harder than usual to do that right now.
