Disruption

This week we moved out of our house and into a hotel for the next 3 weeks.  Back in October we had a water leak in our kitchen.  They immediately ripped up the floor and got rid of the water.  After the insurance claim was finally paid, and we figured out who we wanted to hire to do the repair, we finally were able to get it scheduled to start this week.

This repair requires them to move all of our furniture OUT of the bottom floor of our house because the hardwood floors are either getting refinished or replaced. I keep thinking about how great things are going to be when everything is done! But preparation for all of this was interesting to say the least.

Now, the four of us (and our dog and guinea pig!) are working and living from a 2-bedroom hotel nearby.   It’s pretty cozy! we are making the best of it so far and enjoying the mandatory close-knit times that we have together.

To say things are disruptive is an understatement.  Getting to school is different for the kids. My wife and I both are trying to work and be in meetings from desks that literally sit on top of each other! My wife is handling it much better than I am as I don’t do that well with too much change.  LOL

How do you handle things when the apple cart gets knocked over?  I knew this was coming so I was able to mentally prepare myself for what to expect (even though I am still struggling somewhat).  In times like this a Real Christian Businessman must recognize that things are not always going to go smoothly, and we need to pray more for the Holy Spirit to intervene and help us handle the changes.

We are entering week 2 at the hotel and I’m starting out the week with the right attitude and a posture of prayer.

Will you join me in praying for peace this week?

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:6-7 (NIV)
