It’s Frightful

We got snowed in last week! In the Metro Nashville area we had almost 6 inches of snow over the course of several days.  When we lived in Michigan for several years this wasn’t that big a deal because it happened all the time and the state was prepared for it. But with only having like 2 snow trucks per city in Tennessee to clear the streets the snow stays on the roads and disrupts travel for a long time here!

This meant many of our family’s established routines were upended.  Kids had no school all week, we all slept later in some form or fashion, we went sledding, played board games, worked on puzzles, played lots of video games (too many!) and ate whatever food was in the cabinets and freezer.

Our kids ended up with several neighborhood friends spending the night on different days, An 8 person tent was assembled in our Bonus room, the ping pong table replaced our dining room table for the week, and somehow Devon and I managed to still work from home!

It was fun!  Opportunities like this for our family to enjoy times together in a unique way don’t come along that often.

Many of you also had your routines up ended due to the recent cold weather.  How did you react to it all? Did you walk around complaining about not being able to get to the office?  Wishing the snow was gone sooner? Did you get upset because your kids were running around and you weren’t able to focus on completing your project like you normally do?

A Real Christian Businessman embraces these opportunities to spend some time with his family. Sure we all have a job that needs to be done so we can put food on the table, but looking at events like this that don’t happen that often as a gift instead of a curse can make for memories that last a lifetime.

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1Thes 5:18 (NIV)

However you reacted last week is past – so don’t dwell on it!  Use it to look forward and embrace whatever it is that comes your way this week with an attitude of appreciation and thanksgiving,  because we don’t know what circumstances will come our way!
