What Should I Do?

After spending 2.5 months in self quarantine in Central Florida with my wife’s parents, we are finally back at our home near Nashville TN and are trying to figure out our daily routine and what all this pandemic means in our hometown community.

Now that we are back, we are seeing a whole different perspective on the covid-19 than we did in the Florida community we were staying in.

Many people here are out and about like there is not a global pandemic, not wearing masks, having parties, kids playing with other kids in super close contact… nothing like is was during the lockdown just a mere few weeks ago.

So as a family, we are faced with several questions.

Do we let our kids play with others?

Do we go to church in person or continue watching online?

How frequently do we wear our masks?

I ran into two instances already that were a little awkward at first.  I saw a friend I haven’t seen in awhile and he reached over to give me a hug and I stepped back…  I saw another friend who reached out to shake my hand and I stepped back…  I told them both I wanted to shake their hand and hug them but I wasn’t quite there yet!

Whatever your position is on all of this, we have to realize as a Real Christian Businessman we need to be respectful of what others feel is the best course of action for them and their family – whether to wear a mask or not or to shake someone’s hand or not for example.  I have heard of people being upset because a neighborhood pool would not open.   I have also heard of people getting mad at others because they are not wearing a mask at the grocery store.

We can have our opinion, but our job as believers is to show respect for the opinions of others.

“A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion. (Prov 18:2)” ESV

I don’t have the right or wrong answer for whether you or I should wear a mask or go to the neighborhood pool, but let’s not be fools and show understanding for what others are thinking about it all.

We show the love of Christ when we do this!
