I Can’t Shake It

I miss it.

The good ole handshake.

The pandemic has changed two of my most favorite methods of greeting people.  First it was the smile (See my post from 2 weeks ago for my feelings on that!).  And now I am restricted from greeting someone with a handshake for fear of passing along Covid-19.

I understand all of the reasoning behind not shaking hands right now.  I understand that some people don’t like to even do it at all.  I’ve read the articles about how it supposedly started and how it shouldn’t even be around in the first place.

Yet how will greetings be when you see someone?

How will business introductions transpire in America going forward?

What about in church?

A new person you meet?

Your co-worker that you haven’t seen in awhile?

Your friend?

What are we going to do?

A Real Christian Businessman knows that a firm handshake is always something that exudes confidence and gives others a feeling of goodwill when we do it! Now, when I great people, instead of being awkward about avoiding the handshake, I verbally tell them “I would be shaking your hand right now!” with a big smile (under my mask of course!) and let them know I am glad to see/meet them.

I’m making the effort – to show love to others.

Just because there is a pandemic doesn’t mean we have to not love each other and not greet each other warmly – especially when we first see someone.

It’s one of the main tenets of who we are.

“…Love thy neighbor as thy self’” Matt 22:39b (KJV)
