I’m Scared

It finally happened.

Everyone is running around like the end of the world is here.

Coronavirus has put fear into my community.

It was revealed to me clearly this past week.  They closed our schools Friday and this Monday as a “precaution” because one person in our state (which happens to be in our county) was diagnosed with the coronavirus.  They are going to “clean and disinfect” all of the schools in our district over the next couple of days as a precaution.

I went to Costco on Thursday morning to pick up a couple of things and pandemonium had set in.  The parking lot was packed.  There were shoppers all over the place.  There were no buggies available to use when I entered the store, and all the ones I saw in use had toilet paper, Clorox wipes and bottled water in them.  There was a Costco employee stationed at the water and toilet paper area to make sure no one horded it.  The line to check out was ALL THE WAY TO THE BACK OF THE STORE AND AROUND AGAIN. This was crazier than any Black Friday I have ever seen.

All because everyone is scared.

Mis-information rules.

What does this all mean?

What is going to happen?

As a Real Christian Businessman, we cannot show the world that we are living out of fear!  The primary tactic of the enemy is fear.

“God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and of sound judgment.“ 2 Tim 1:7 (CSB)

Our workplace and neighbors need to see someone who is not ruled by fear, but is ruled by faith. We trust in a God who is in total control.  And we have the opportunity to be a calming presence right now in a world of fear, worry and anxiety.

I am not saying that this particular virus that is out there is not something to be taken seriously.  Please do.  Wash your hands.  Cover your face when you cough.  Check a reputable website to find out the latest information about this virus that is going around.  But at the same time, also show your co-workers and your neighbors that you are not ruled by fear of this virus.  That you trust in a God that you know is greater than any virus could ever be.

It’s what the world needs now more than anything else.
