Just Do It…
New Year resolutions are abound at this time of year. I am not against them or am I going to sit here and spout off all the statistics about how all of us make resolutions but break them within the first 2 weeks.
The media will remind us of this more than we want to hear about it.
I have made resolutions over the years and set goals every year for as long as I can remember. Some years I have done better than others, many times though I never get them done and am mid way through January wondering why I ever thought I could do any of the things I wrote down!
I have found something though that works fairly well for me in accomplishing resolutions and goals. Here is what I do: I take a quick reflection on the previous year, looking at what went well and what didn’t in my life, and then think about one thing I would like to accomplish in the coming year based on my review. I write it on a notecard and post it on my bathroom mirror so I can see it every single day.
In other words, just do it – for that one thing.
I have found that when I focus on just that one thing, it actually makes it possible to accomplish what I am trying to do. And I haven’t always done something big! Sometimes it has been speaking more kindly on a daily basis, or going to bed 30 minutes earlier every night, or taking a walk at least two times a week. Most of the time it is something simple… yet by thinking about and focusing on “Just doing it – for one thing” I end up accomplishing it!
Use this Real Christian Businessman technique to affect a change in your life in the coming year. You may be surprised at the outcome!
What will your one thing be that you will “just do”?
“I can do all things through him who gives me strength.” (Phil 4:13) NIV
