Negative Reaction Road

It was a frustrating kind of day.

We asked our doctor to call in a refill for a prescription, and when I went to pick it up, I realized they had called in the wrong one.

I found out that the teacher didn’t turn in the forms we gave them and now the burden is back on us to fill them all out again.

Due to an error within my company’s HR department my wife’s routine dental cleaning is being “denied” for payment by the insurance company.

These things all can and will be fixed, and I know this.  They still happened though – all in one day – and it really brought me down.  I was ok after the first mistake, but then as the next one and the next one happened, I started to crack a little.

I wanted to back talk the doctor’s office for calling in the wrong prescription.

I was thinking about how disorganized the teacher must be to not have turned in the documents we gave him.

I wanted to tell my company how much hassle they are causing me by making the error with our insurance.

But a Real Christian Businessman would react differently. Taking the ‘negative reaction road’ would not make anything better – it would probably only make things worse.

After realizing Satan was attacking me I stepped back from these situations and saw that they all can and will be fixed.  I just needed to have the right attitude about them all and get to work on fixing them with the proper approach.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  “ James 1:2-3

My faith was tested that day, and I didn’t quite consider it joy while these things were happening, but I quickly got over it and took action to get them all corrected with the proper attitude.  It seems I was facing some trials that needed to be overcome!

Our co-workers are listening and watching us when we talk about situations like this.

How would you react if this happened to you?
