Travel Update
Have you had to travel on business lately?
When I travel, there are waaaay too many distractions. The airports are full of people pushing their way by to get ahead of you, bouncing your eyes is all the more difficult as women are having to remove much of their clothing just to go through the security check area, employees at airports and hotels aren’t always the nicest, and being by yourself in a hotel in a different city than your friends and family leaves room for Satan to creep in on you.
How are your eyes when you are in the airport? Do you find them wandering watching other women walk by?
How is your attitude towards other people that you come across? Is it filled with grace when they are rude to you or do you feel as though you need to put them in their place when situations arise?
How do you do when you are at the hotel by yourself? Do you find yourself watching things on TV that you shouldn’t?
A Real Christian Businessman knows how hard it is to travel and to keep his faith. In order to combat what is before us we have to put into place some guard rails to help keep us from making mistakes.
Do you have an accountability partner or two that can help you when your eyes start to wander?
Do you “check your attitude” when you run into someone that is rude?
Do you take your Bible with you and read it while you travel?
These are some of the things that I have found that help me when I travel. God has told us that if we “walk by the Spirit” (let everything we do be guided by the Holy Spirit) we will be able to combat the sinful nature our flesh craves.
“I say then, walk by the Spirit and you will certainly not carry out the desire of the flesh.” Gal 5:16 (CSB)
Even if you think you are not strong in “walking by the Spirit”, just saying a quick prayer when you run into trouble can be all the help you need at that moment of weakness.
Be encouraged this week, put in place some guardrails, and remember that the Holy Spirit is with you all the time and ready to help if you will just call on Him in your need!
