Bad = Good
I know I write a lot about what we say and how we say it, and that people all around us are watching us to see if it all matches up with God’s directives.
Maybe it’s because it has been on my mind as of late.
Maybe it’s because I haven’t been doing a good job of it with my co-workers and family recently.
Nevertheless, here I am, writing about it again.
I recently read in my morning devotional (Experiencing God by Henry Blackaby) something that again reminded me that Satan can easily influence us to say and believe things that are not true, and that we may “think” we are doing good when in fact we are playing right into his hands.
“We, too, will face the temptation to call something good that God has declared wicked. We may be persuaded that we can accomplish more good by lying than by telling the truth. We may claim that we are mobilizing Christians to pray for someone in sin when, in fact, we are spreading gossip. We may assert that we are following God’s will in our job when, in fact, we are striving to pursue our own ambitions.”
“We will also be tempted to call evil that which God declares is good.”
Lying. Gossip. Asserting self-ambition. All things that we see everyday all around us, and that many times we end up doing ourselves. All are bad, but many times we convince ourselves that they can be good.
Be reminded this week of our obligation and efforts as a Real Christian Businessman. Be truthful in your dealings with others. Walk away when you are in a conversation that turns into a gossip trail instead of lifting a person up. Pursue God’s goals for your vocation instead of chasing your own desires or aspirations.
People are watching us and what we do. I know we stumble sometimes but if we try God will honor our efforts!
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 2:2 (NASB)
