The Nudge
Do you ever feel that “thing” inside of you that tells you what you should and shouldn’t do in certain situations? That part of your “insides” that is trying to keep you from doing right or wrong?
Many would say that this is just a “feeling” deep down – our conscience – that guides us in our thoughts.
I would say it is the Holy Spirit trying to guide us to do what we should and shouldn’t do.
“But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you.” John 14:26 CSB
We have been studying the Holy Spirit lately in church, and it got me to thinking as to how this applies to our daily lives in our workplace. The part of the verse above that says ” will teach… and remind you” is the part that sticks out for me. For the longest time, I didn’t quite understand what it was that was inside of me that was warning me of when to not say something, or that what I was about to do was wrong. What I eventually realized was that the Holy Spirit was watching out for me and “reminding” me of what I should do based on what Jesus had been teaching me all along – I just never realized what it was.
Talking/learning about the Holy Spirit is difficult to understand sometimes I know, but this topic relates to being a Real Christian Businessman in a unique way. You see, when you are in those situations at work, and you aren’t quite sure what to do, that feeling you get inside that is prompting you to say the right thing or treat that person a certain way is the Holy Spirit trying to guide you in the way that you should go.
Next time you are in a situation and you get that “feeling” inside, listen closely so you can hear the wisdom of the Holy Spirit as it guides you in your decision making and life.
