Your Way
I thought about it again this morning, how are we to act towards others at our workplace. When the kids in our classroom say hateful things to on another and to us; when a co-worker acts deceitful towards you in order to make themselves look better in the eyes of others; when we genuinely are trying to help someone in our office and they instead take it the wrong way and get upset with us.
We have to show that a Real Christian Businessman is above all of that.
Sure, we all make mistakes at times and say things we don’t want to, act like we don’t want to, think what we don’t want to.
But people are watching us. And we made a decision and said we believe in a greater power that guides our thoughts and our minds. We have tenents that we follow. Some people call them “rules” but they are more than rules they are just us trying to emulate the One that came before us in our own speech and deeds.
“Therefore, God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, put on heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience,” coll 3:12 CSB
It’s easy to get discouraged and want to hide our faith while we work. But you don’t have to bury it in the ground like an ostrich does his head all the time. Different situations require different approaches. I work in a place now where we readily pray and talk about church and Jesus and all this is normal for us. But people still talk behind my back and do other things that aren’t in line with our faith. I have also worked at places that were quite the opposite of this, and my actions were still the same but were just displayed in a different way based on the situation I was in.
Whatever the situation though, we just have to “do” some of the things that we all know we should do, and our faith will then be visible to all in the way it should be – even if we don’t think it is.
