I Don’t Celebrate Christmas

It’s the best time of year again.  The time when we get to celebrate Jesus’ birthday and all that goes with it. The time when we get to celebrate all the traditions that we have been doing over the years, and also the new ones that we may have just started.

But when you are at work, how do you let people know that you celebrate the Real Reason for the Season without reciting the Christmas story from Luke chapter 2 to every person that you see?

It’s easy.

Just say Merry Christmas.

I say it’s easy but it really can be difficult sometimes can’t it? In today’s politically correct, respect everyone’s position no matter if you agree with it culture, we sometimes don’t feel like it is ok to say “Merry Christmas” because we are afraid that it will offend the other person.

They may be agnostic.

Or have been hurt by religion before.

Maybe they are Muslim.

Or a Jehovah Witness.

For a Real Christian Businessman, this is probably one of the easiest times for us to balance our faith with our work.  By respectfully saying “Merry Christmas” instead of “Happy Holidays” you are at the simplest level honoring God by acknowledging the biggest gift He could have ever given us.

Don’t be afraid this season to say it.  Don’t be worried that others may think you are being insensitive. Be bold yet gentle.  Let’s honor our God with two words that at a minimum can let people know the hope and love we have from a God who loves us more than we can ever realize.

Let people know the real Reason for the Season.

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect” 1 Peter 3:15 NIV
