Inside Out
You are holding a big cup of Coke and on your way to a meeting in another part of your building when someone comes along and bumps into you, making you spill your Coke everywhere. (Now if you grew up in the South like I did, we called all sodas Coke – sorry if y’all don’t understand that!).
Now why did you spill your Coke?
Your first answer might be because someone bumped into you.
This is the wrong answer.
You spilled your Coke because there was Coke. In. Your. Cup.
Had there been Pepsi in your cup (yuk!) you would have spilled Pepsi.
When you are in your workplace, and something comes along that shakes you (gossip, a boss that doesn’t seem to care, too much workload, co-workers who are mean), whatever is inside of you will come out to react to these situations.
A Real Christian Businessman knows this and to counter it tries to fill his mind with things that will help him react positively when something happens that rattles him.
And believe me, things will happen to rattle us.
When you get rattled, what spills over for you?
Is it fruit of the spirit? (Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self Control? Gal 5:22-23 CSB)
Or bitterness, envy, harsh words and impulsive reactions?
We get to choose.
Let’s work this week towards filling our cup with some fruit of the spirit, as opposed to using Pepsi (ok that is not a good analogy but I had to get one last dig in on Pepsi while I had the chance).
