Wound Up

Yesterday should have been a great day for me.  Everyone was feeling good health wise, the sun was shining brightly with no rain in sight, we all were home, Devon and I were working on a home project together, the kids ended up each having a friend come over and were having fun – everything was great!

But I was wound up.

Anxious.

Uptight.

And it showed up in my actions towards my family.

Each of them recognized this in one way or another and mentioned it to me.  I realized it too, but for some reason I couldn’t break out of it.

I was stuck.

This has also happened to me at work before.  I get all uptight at work, about a project or an interaction I had or something someone said.  I end up not thinking straight; jumping to conclusions, ready to move on to the next thing too quickly, treating others very short and tepid.

A Real Christian Businessman knows that whether this happens to him at home or at work, this is not the will of God.  Being anxious and uptight only causes conflict, strife, misunderstandings, and bad relations with others.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, submit your request to God”. Phil 4:6 (NIV)

If I would stop for a moment, either at home, or at work, and give my concerns to God, he promises that he will take care of everything.

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guide your hearts and mind in Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:7 (NIV)

We don’t have to be uptight.

We don’t have to be anxious.

We don’t have to be wound up.

We DO have to trust he will take care of us.

Use my anxiousness as an example for yourself this week and “submit your requests to God”.

Let him hold them for you.

I’m certain your results will be better than mine!
