Cram It In
“I barely made it to my meeting on time!”
“I waited too late to start getting ready for church and now we all will be late!”
“I never seem to have time to recover or even think about what we just discussed in that meeting because I am always rushing from one meeting to the next!”
Have you ever been in situations like this before?
They have happened to me more than I want to admit…
Even when I am trying to get to my daughter’s dance class to pick her up, I always seem to be flying in there on two wheels, getting there barely in time to prevent her from saying “where were you at Dad?” while she sits patiently waiting for me to arrive.
A Real Christian Businessman recognizes these types of situations and knows that he needs to build margin into his day and schedule. He knows that in order to function properly at work and at home, he must put space in between things in his schedule and say “no” to things sometimes so that he is not exhausted all of the time.
Around this time of year, when school starts back, it always seems to get like this for me and my family. School/after school commitments, work commitments, and church commitments all seem to start to materialize in large numbers and really pile up.
God knows all that is going on for us at work and at home. He has repeatedly said He will guide our lives if only we will slow down enough and ask Him for His help.
“But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hand…” Psalm 31:14-15a ESV
Take a moment right now, not to be overwhelmed, but to be encouraged knowing that God is right there beside us, ready to lend His hand to help us manage our time.
Let’s step back and allow Him to help us with all of the things happening in our lives. As the verse above says, “Our times are in His hand”!
