Reset

With my birthday happening last week, I came to the realization of just how fortunate I am.

And it caused me to be very grateful.

I take for granted so many times, throughout the day, what I have and what God has done in my life.

The family I have; the wife that supports me, sharpens me (and makes me smarter!); the two wonderful children I have that are truly a gift from God; my job; my friends; my health(!); Mentors over the years that spent the time to invest in me; financial success; business success.

As I was thinking about all of these things, I came to the realization of something – that it all boils down to the order of my priorities.

OLD PRIORITY LIST

  1. Work
  2. Everything else in no particular order ( Family, Health, God)

There was a time where I would strive to achieve at my job at any cost. I wanted to prove that I could actually do the job that was asked of me (and more), and I would sacrifice my time to my family (come home late), my health (never work out and eat junk food all the time), and my sleep (staying up late working on projects) in order to prove that I could get the results needed on my job.

I can’t say when it actually happened (it was several years ago), but at some point I reset my priorities and ordered them like this:

CURRENT PRIORITY LIST

  1. God
  2. Family
  3. Health
  4. Job

As a Real Christian Businessman we need to regularly look at our priority list to ensure we have things in the right order.  This sounds very simple, but as I was reflecting on it this week it reminded me how things end up when we actually do have our priorities in order.

It all works out.

Financially somehow we “have enough”.

Our family is happy.

Our job ends up being great.

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matt: 6:33 (NIV)

Just a reminder this week for us all.

Seek Him first.

And everything WILL fall in line.
