Moving On Up

Last week was a special time for my family and me. My oldest son graduated from 4th grade and will be headed to a new school – middle school – in the Fall (the school system we currently live in has K-4 and then moves to a 5-6 middle school).

Graduation

Graduation gives us all a time to reflect. Did we teach our child what they needed to know to get to the next level at school? Did we learn all we should have learned while we were in High School or College?   Did we master that particular job before we moved on to the next job or promotion?

Refection is a good thing – but it also is something we should not get too carried away with. As a Real Christian Businessman, we need to be able to reflect, but also note that we need to also be able to move on to the ‘next level’ in our thinking and mindset. We should stay focused on what we can still do, not focusing much on the things we could have done in the past that we no longer have any control over.

I have been reading and studying the book of Ecclesiastes lately and one of the themes that keeps coming up for me is that even though I may have done something or learned something I still don’t really know what may lie ahead. Only God knows that.

“So I reflected on all this and concluded that the righteous and the wise and what they do are in God’s hands, but no one knows whether love or hate awaits them.” Ecc 9:1 NIV

Don’t get too caught up in what you could have done or could have taught or what you didn’t learn or don’t know. Enjoy the times as they were, and make efforts to have good times, to teach others, and gain knowledge as you move forward. A Real Christian Businessman heeds Gods Word and knows that this is the way – so graduate to the next level in your thinking and affect what you can going forward. You still have a chance to make a difference today!
