Think Less, Act More

Wow.

I heard this today, and it hit me like a brick between the eyes.

Read the title again.

Think less, act more.

Do you know why this hit me like a brick?

Because I’m one of those people… Those people who is constantly trying to improve myself. I think about being a better parent, I read books about it, I listen to podcasts about it.

I think about being a better Believer. I listen to sermons. Read books about prayer. Watch Christian movies.

I even think about having a product I want to sell (I’m writing a book!). I listen to other people talk about writing and selling books. I read books about how to write books. I talk on the phone to my friends about a book I may write one day.

But then I heard these four words from Rob Bellenfant and I realized what I have really been doing.

I have been thinking MORE,

And acting LESS.

Now I have plenty of podcasts and audio books and physical books and kindle books cued up to read and listen to on how to do or be better at all of those things I mentioned above.

But the ONLY thing that is going to make me better at anything, is for me to ACT MORE and THINK LESS.

I have listened to enough – it is time to ACT.

I would like to remind all of my Real Christian Businessman friends out there of this today, as I have come to the simple realization that actions speak louder than words.

“For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like.  But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing. James 1:23-25 (ESV emphasis added)

What action will you take today after reading this reminder?
