Work Does Matter
What are you doing for your vocation right now? Are you retired? Working your first job? Mid career and rockin’ it? Looking for your next line of employment?
God has given to us all a certain purpose. A certain reason to do what we do. Some people say it is a “calling”.
We may not realize that now, as what we are doing or where we are in our career seems so mundane; Non-impactful; “Meaningless” (see the first several chapters of Ecclesiastes for more on that!).
Sure you can point at me and say “well you work for a Christian organization, all you do all day is make sure people are hearing about Jesus and you are getting paid for it!” And this is true. Those that know me though understand that I worked in quite the opposite environment for most of my life.
My point here is that each of us has a designated purpose for what we are doing and where we are working. God has orchestrated this and has put us here at this time.
Embrace where you are, and understand that you CAN and ARE making a difference in your workplace doing what you are doing. You are being a Real Christian Businessman. Your efforts are not in vain.
I will continue to write encouragement to us both so that we can understand that whatever it is we do, wherever it is that we work, we are making an impact for the Kingdom by our actions, words, and deeds.
Take this week to be thankful for what you and I get to do. Be thankful that the job or place in life you are right now is impacting people everyday, even without you knowing it.
Don’t let Satan have you think otherwise.
What you do DOES matter!
