Relationships Stink!

The organization I work for is big.  There are over 1,000 people alone in our home office where I work.  Now I’m sure some of you work in organizations that are bigger, and of course some that are smaller, but the point here is most of us work in a place that involves being around other people.

Do you run across some folks at work that you don’t really like being around? You know what I mean… People that you don’t really even want to see or be in a meeting with.  People you don’t want to have to interact with at all.

Because of the way they act;

Or how they speak to others;

Or the jokes that they tell;

Or the way they treat others (rude?).

I work with some of these people too believe it or not. And it makes doing my work a little harder sometimes.

But as a Real Christian Businessman, we have the obligation to work with these people and also to build relationships with EVERYONE.  Jesus did that you know? All throughout his walk on this earth and with people from every area of life! Even the “haters” he showed common decency to. He led us with this example and we are to do this in our workplace as well.

“If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.” Rom 12:18 ESV

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” John 13:34 ESV

I know it’s hard sometimes.

I know we (I!) don’t want to do it.

But together, this week, let’s try and build relationships with others that we might not like being around.

And if we do, maybe (just maybe) they will see a small glimpse of Jesus in our actions.
