Snoozer

School has started! It is hard to believe that the summer is gone and school is back in session, but for our family we have started that routine again. Waking up has been a challenge lately as well – but particularly for me. I don’t always get up at the same time; I usually hit the snooze button once or twice. 🙂

This reminds me of a time when I was in college. I used to give my roommate Paul such a hard time for hitting the snooze button! I used to get right up when the alarm went off, jump out of bed and start to get ready for the day. I wondered how in the world he could keep hitting the snooze button and go right back to sleep, yet still make it to class on time!

But now I know…

My point here is that having a routine of getting up at the same time in the morning is something that can really help a family, but especially help a Real Christian Businessman. Studies show that just by getting up at the same time every day it can make a big difference in how your day goes. By having an inconsistent wake-up time it disturbs your circadian rhythm. A consistent wake up time sets your body clock; it allows for calmness to be a start to your day.

Tired throughout the day? There may be other factors at play, but try getting up at the same time every day and also going to bed just a little earlier each night rather than hitting that snooze button a couple of times.

“So Moses cut two tablets of stone like the first. And he rose early in the morning and went up on Mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him, and took in his hand two tablets of stone.” Ex 34:4 ESV (emphasis added)

“And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.” Mark 1:35 ESV (emphasis added)

Now I couldn’t really find a verse in the Bible that said we should get up at the same time every day, but I DID find many verses that talked about getting up early in the morning, which could equate to getting up at the same time.

Take this as a friendly challenge to create a consistent wake up time for your body, and then watch how the results play out for you going forward.

Soon you probably won’t even realize how much better things are.
