Priorities

I’ve had my priorities out of line a little bit lately.

You see I have been doing a really good job of trying too hard.

I’ve been trying really hard to make sure I have been a good dad.  Spending time with the kids, making sure I have been helping around the house.  Making sure I have been home and available to help raise our two little ones.

I have also been trying hard to make sure I stay in The Word.  Reading the Bible on a regular basis and staying in prayer.

I have also been trying really hard to meet my wife’s needs.  I have been trying to make sure I am engaged when I get home from work in our conversations.  I have  been turning my work thoughts off and using “100% listening” while we are talking and paying more attention to what her needs are.

I thought I had been getting it right.

But I haven’t.

I realized that I had my priorities out of order.

It should be:  God, spouse, family, everything else.

I was doing: God, family, spouse, everything else.

A  Real Christian Businessman knows he has to have his relationship with his spouse 2nd only to that of God.  His family, his kids, his job, all must take a back burner to his relationship with Jesus (1st), and then his wife (2nd).
