Pay the Rent

How was your week last week?

Were you productive or just active?

Did it go along as it usually does – or did something exciting happen?

I personally had a great week. We celebrated my daughter’s birthday by having a party with some of her friends; I got to see some family members that I haven’t seen in a while (they came to the party); I completed a project that I had been working on for some time at work; my wife and I got to spend a little quality time together one evening after the kids had gone to bed; and I was even able to exercise 5 days last week!

I would say it was a success.

But I know next week I have to start it all over again.

It reminds me of an important quote that I heard again recently from Rory Vaden:

“Success is never owned. It is rented. And the rent is due every day. “

You see, as a Real Christian Businessman, you have to always be working to “pay the rent.” You have to plan your work;, work your plan. You have to be diligent in your waking hours with your kids, your spouse, your business, your studies – whatever it is that you are doing, it has to be done every day.

DAY IN. DAY OUT.

I’m sending a simple reminder today, to say “don’t forget to pay the rent” for success.

I had some success in several areas last week. But that week is over now. I don’t own last week. It is done. I need to look to next week to see what I am going to do to pay the rent for my future successes. And my actions will dictate how successful I will be.

God wants us to be successful. He wants to help us to succeed in all that we do. We just have to remember to include him in the plan, so that when it comes time to “pay the rent” we can utilize some of His resources to obtain the success that we all may be looking for. His resources are there waiting for us to use – if we will just include Him in our plans.
