All The Way Through

No matter what team you were routing for in Super Bowl XLVIII (or you were like me and didn’t really have an alliance but wanted to see a good game), the game that was just played was a great example of two teams playing at the highest level.

The only problem was, there was one team that was far superior to the other.

The Seattle Seahawks dismantled the Denver Broncos with surgeon like precision.  I don’t have to go into any specific details about the game; even people that don’t watch or know anything much about football could see that one team was playing much better than the other.

But neither team.

Ever.

Gave.

Up.

Particularly the Denver Broncos.  Although their faces may have had a defeated look, each time they took the field, they put forth their best effort.

All the way to the last play.

A Real Christian Businessman should approach his daily work the same way.  Your current job situation may be wearing you down, causing you to not even want to go to work each day or to want to do your job with less than 100% of your effort.  Or you may be in a brand new job, overwhelmed by all the responsibilities, wondering how you will ever figure everything out, wanting to ease up on the gas a little bit so as to understand more it is that you are doing but new things keep coming at you with no break on the horizon.  Or you could be unemployed currently, seeking to find the next chapter in your vocational life, yet growing weary of the constant searching and emailing and calling while all the while still coming up with empty results.

God isn’t disappointed in you though.

You see, He knows the struggles you may be going through, and He has laid out encouragement along the way to keep you going (check out Proverbs 3:5-6, for a quick example).  But more importantly, He is expecting you to do the best job you can, at whatever it is you are doing, and do it well all the way to the end.

Just like the Denver Broncos did.

Even though it was obvious that they were not going to win the game, the Broncos continued to put forth their best effort, holding their head high (well, as high as they could!), executing their game plan, running as hard as they could, blocking, doing everything to the best of their ability.

And that is what God is expecting from us today as we go about through our day.

The example the Denver Broncos showed us in the Super Bowl game was that whatever we are doing, we need to do it to the best of our ability, and although the outcome may be obvious and not in our favor, we need to honor God by doing it well, all the way through.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for man”.  Colossians 3:23.

Continue to work at it with “all your heart.”  He is very proud of our efforts!
